Al Assad University Hospital in Damascus is one of the largest teaching hospitals in Syria. It was founded in 1988 and is run by the Ministry of Higher Education. The hospital is affiliated with Damascus University.〔()〕〔()〕 The hospital is equipped with the latest modern medical equipment, such as the MRI, a multi-slides CT scan, two catheters, advanced gamma camera, and lithotripsy device. The operations ward contains 11 operation rooms with the latest technological medical equipment to conduct the most complicated operations from laparoscopic to open heart surgery, as well as delicate computerized neurosurgery. The hospital has one of the largest and most important labs in the country which contains the latest automated equipment, and gives all kinds of medical tests including hormonal, immune, tumors, and lymphatic, in addition to pharmaceutical lab, and stem cells bank. The hospital provides the best medical therapeutic and surgical services to patients and the training of students and graduated doctors from Syrian universities and contributes to scientific research. The hospital includes all internal specialties (cardiac, neurological, gastrointestinal kidney..) and most of the surgical specialties (general, endoscopic, vascular, cardiac, neurosurgery, urosurgery), in addition to kidney transplant unit. There is a large division for physiotherapy that covers all the requirements of this therapy.
